Travel Program : For Players 8 years of age and older on August 1st of the Seasonal Year
East Lyme Soccer Association participates in league play sponsored by the Southeast District of Connecticut Junior Soccer Association (CJSA). Outdoor league play is normally conducted in the fall, spring, and summer seasons. East Lyme Soccer Association teams have the opportunity to play indoor sessions at commercial facilities. Play at commercial indoor facilities is at an additional cost to the registration fee.
During the fall season, travel teams will normally practice twice a week and play one game per week. Practices for fall season travel teams will begin in early August and games will begin in early September and run through early November.
Travel teams are formed before the fall of each seasonal year based upon the results of Association evaluations and try-outs conducted during the May/June time period before the beginning of the seasonal year. Teams formed will play throughout the fall season. Team rosters for the spring and summer seasons normally will need to be adjusted as some players choose not to play during these seasons.
The East Lyme Soccer Association sponsors play for boys and girls in the following divisions during the seasonal year:
Under 10 Division (For Players who are younger than 10 years of age on August 1st) : Outdoor play is offered by the District in the fall and spring seasons in this division. The play in this division in the Southeast District is non-result oriented, i.e. players have fun as their skills develop without competitive pressures. Teams in this division play 8 v 8 games. During the fall season, the division has play for both Classic teams (previously known as "A" teams) and Recreational Plus teams (previously known as "B" teams). Players are selected for a Classic team based upon the skills they demonstrate during the try out process. During the spring and summer seasons, only a single level of play may be offered in the district.
Under 12 Division (For Players who are younger than 12 years of age on August 1st) : Outdoor play is offered by the District in the fall and spring seasons for this division. During the fall season, the division has play for both Classic teams and Recreational Plus teams. Players are selected for a Classic team based upon the skills they demonstrate during the try out process. U-12 Classic (A team) will play 11 versus 11. Recreational Plus teams (B teams) in this division, or if formed U-11 Classic teams, will play 8 versus 8. During the spring and summer seasons, only a single level of play may be offered in the district.
Under 14 Division (For Players who are younger than 14 years of age on August 1st) : Outdoor play is offered by the District in the fall and spring seasons for this division. During the fall season, the division has play for both Classic teams and Recreational Plus teams. Both Classic and Recreational Plus travel teams will play 11 versus 11. Players are selected for a Classic team based upon the skills they demonstrate during the try out process. During the spring and summer seasons, only a single level of play is offered in the district.
Under 16 and Under 19 Divisions: The District offers play for these divisions in the summer seasons. No play is offered in the fall season due to conflicts with the high school season.
What uniform items are included with the registration fee?
The registration fee for the travel team players includes a jersey, shorts, and pair of socks. Sample uniform sizes will available at the on-site registration days (date TBD).
